A few mornings after marking twenty years in the program,
I settled into my battered recliner
with my first coffee and paper.
The features section carried a full-page cover story
on how to get over that St. Patrick's Day hangover.
"Harrumph," I harrumphed.
"That's information I no longer need.
What a waste of valuable newspaper space."
I then proceeded to read every word of it.
Like I said, alcohol is no longer a part of my life.
The alcoholic is in no greater peril
than when he takes sobriety for granted.
