Lions and Zebras

Because the zebras are in a herd,
it's difficult for the lions to get close to them.
Half the zebras eat while the other half
watch for the enemy.
The lions just love it when a zebra wanders
away from the herd, because then the zebra
becomes easy meat for the lions.
I realized that's what alcoholism tries to do to us.
It fills our heads with nonsense like,
"I don't need to go to many meetings;
I've been sober a few years." . . .
On my own, I become "easy meat" . . .
I need everyone in the herd to be looking out for me.
AA works, and it works well.
