Housecleaning

Abandon yourself to God as you understand God.
Admit your faults to Him and to your fellows.
Clear away the wreckage of your past.
Give freely of what you find and join us.
We shall be with you in the Fellowship of the Spirit,
and you will surely meet some of us
as you trudge the Road of Happy Destiny.
May God bless you and keep you -- until then.

My name is Frank D., and I'm an alcoholic.

I did a Fourth Step this morning, very thorough from the start. I have been sober 29 years, had been on a bottom for a while, and I could not understand why. So I called my sponsor and we hashed it out for two hours this morning. Boy, do I feel good! I just want to tell the whole of AA how good I feel, but instead I am going for a run ... a small three-miler in the rain. Just being grateful for what I have today. I've been released from fear and guilt, real or imaginary. Thank God this thing works. I know I should double up on my meetings and let AA love me again and again. Thank God and AA, we have a refuge to go to when things get down and confusing. This great program allows us to clear away our wreckage. Thank you, sponsors, for keeping it simple. God Bless us all! And newcomers -- keep coming back -- it's going to be okay!
