AA Thought for the Day

Daily Reprieve

It is easy to let up on the spiritual program of action
and rest on our laurels.
We are headed for trouble if we do, for alcohol is a subtle foe.
We are not cured of alcoholism.
What we really have is a daily reprieve
contingent on the maintenance of our spiritual condition.
Every day is a day when we must carry the vision of God's will
into all of our activities.

I'm Myra T., and I have been sober for a few 24 hours.

However, I really never take it for granted. Every experience is either a lesson or a blessing. When I share in meetings, I end by saying, "I think I will try it another 24 hours." My license plate is TRY24HRS, and my email address is tryanother24hrs@.... I am very alcoholic. I tend to forget, therefore I remind myself constantly that I am only promised. "A 24 hour reprieve based on my spiritual condition."
