AA Thought for the Day

February 12, 2005

Alone

There are others I know
who have been sober on their own
for a few months to many years.
I think of them as Robinson Crusoes,
marking off the years.
When they have an anniversary
or if they have a relapse, they do it alone.
Whenever I think of those people
who are trying to stay sober without our Fellowship,
I am always reminded
of the old philosophical conundrum:
"If a tree falls in the forest
and there is no one around to hear it,
does it make a sound?"
More than likely, it does. But who knows for sure?

Thought to Ponder....

I'm not alone anymore.
