Having come to believe that I keep what I share,
every time I encourage, I receive courage.
It is with others that, with the grace of God
and the Fellowship of AA,
I trudge the road of happy destiny.
May I always remember that the power within me
is far greater than any fear before me.
May I always have patience,
for I am on the right road.
A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle.
H E L P = Hope, Encouragement, Love, Patience.
Hi, I'm Derryl, a sober alcoholic.
When I came into AA 15 years ago, I wanted recovery now! I remember someone dear saying to me, "I see the 'you' you haven't met yet." He'd been in the program for 20 years by then, and I wept. I was discouraged with my progress, but I've never forgotten that encouragement, those words. Many years later, I met "me" ... the new me, the healthier me. And I continue to grow in this program of recovery. Yes, I needed a lot of healing and a lot of love and understanding. But through counseling, working the Steps, talking with others, doing the necessary work, I'm amazed and Oh! So grateful to my Higher Power. Renewal does happen. Recovery is possible beyond our imagination. So, please, hang in there ... you were here for me, and I'll be here for you. I need you all.
