Greater Power

Here are thousands of men and women, worldly indeed.
They flatly declare that since they have come to believe
in a Power greater than themselves,
to take a certain attitude toward that Power,
and to do certain simple things,
there has been a revolutionary change
in their way of living and thinking.
In the face of collapse and despair,
in the face of total failure of their human resources,
they found that a new power, peace, happiness,
and a sense of direction flowed into them.

I'm Clint, an alcoholic.

I am agnostic, and have found a way for the Big Book to work for me. I look at the spirit of the program as my greater source of power. I also incorporate nature, its continual ups and downs, into my conception of a greater power. The bottom line is that I know that I am not a Higher Power, and that I need to let go of so much. I acted 'as if' for six and a half years, and that just did not work for me any more. I have been on this spiritual journey, combined with my emotional journey, for over ten years since then. I still struggle at times with my conception of a greater source than myself, but it is so much better than before I was in the program.
