I try hard to hold fast to the truth
that a full and thankful heart
cannot entertain great conceits.
When brimming with gratitude,
one's heartbeat must surely result in outgoing love,
the finest emotion that we can ever know.
I am grateful for this minute;
my eternity may be in it.
T H I N K = The Happiness I Never Knew.
My name is Bobby and I'm a grateful recovering alcoholic.
One the best AA meetings I have attended in Manila, was that one meeting when everybody shared on the topic, "Attitude of Gratitude!" From that, and from my continuous practice of the habit of saying thanks every day for the many blessings I receive as a consequence of my life of sobriety and progressive change of attitude, I can well see that it is just spontaneous for me to be grateful. Oh blessed alcoholism that has brought me so much hope, so many new friends, so many wonderful experiences of God's surprises in my life! One thing I am most grateful for today is that I am becoming more tolerant, especially to those persons who are difficult to love whom I live and interact with every day. I am grateful to God for putting these persons along my path as an opportunity for me to be more understanding, forgiving and loving. I cannot imagine how I have changed so much from being so selfish and rude, to being compassionate and kind to people. I know I have still a long way to go, but to see that my life is turning a new leaf day by day is really something for me to ponder and keep thanking God and the AA fellowship for.
Thanks for letting me share.
