Finding a Higher Power sometimes takes breaking away from the confusion of living; making a retreat, peacefully listening in a meeting. There is so much cacophony in life ... so many voices, inputs, white noise, whatever ... that we really seldom use our ears/eyes/senses any longer for learning and sorting out the stimulus of living that comes to us. Yet, there is the Divine in that, too. Am I aware of the message given through the busy-ness of life? Probably somewhere in my subconscious, yes. There is also a third eye -- the eternal sense. I envision the pagan triangle with the God's eye in it, frequently seen in Greek Orthodox, and even Catholic churches. The Omniscient Eye of Divine Intelligence and Knowing ... that intuitive intelligence that seems to be part of God's inner gift. The knowing that a miracle has happened and we have been touched by the Divine. We stop and learn to listen, and trust this profound intelligence only when we are vulnerable and our hearts open. We can't do that drinking, or when we are self-absorbed and fretting about who we are or are not. At least, I can't. The third eye has no need for mental concepts, nor visuals of the earthly sort, nor even of sounds, but I believe it contains all of these senses ... plus the subtle scent of angels, if one will imagine such a thing. The intuitive third eye beams from the heart. You know, with all those emanating rays of gold found in religious icons. I pray that each of us is gifted with this subtlety of divine intelligence, of knowing, as here online, we surely need it. I suspect that many in this room use this third eye to see beyond the word, to sense behind the "smiley," to intuit each others heart. As you have intuited mine.
