I'll never forget the first time I met Bill Wilson.
I was a couple of months sober and so excited,
so thrilled to actually meet the co-founder
that I gushed all over him
with what my sobriety meant to me
and my undying gratitude for his starting AA.
When I ran down, he took my hand in his
and said simply, "Pass it on."

Let it begin with me.

Hi, my name is Greg, and I am definitely an alcoholic ... a recovering one!
I just celebrated three years, thanks to a Higher Power, whom I call God. There are many paradoxes in AA. I have come to discover that, and in particular the last six months, have been everything the fellowship promised. I am a member of AA, and with that comes a responsibility to pass on the message that was given to me for free. That's right! For free! Freedom comes when I surrender what ever it is that's bothering me ... people, places, etc. What a great life you all have given me. You have taught me that in order to have peace of mind and serenity all I have to do is give it to God, then step back and get out of the way. My first two and a half years of sobriety were spent searching. Searching for what you have given me the whole time ... a new way of life. Just to say thanks at this time of the year during this Holiday Season when I have been given so much, is not enough. I can never repay you, but I can pass on the message that there is hope. If it can save a sick man like me it can save you too. I promise you that just like the ones in front of me promised. If you don't believe me, just follow us around; don't stop until the miracle happens. You owe it to yourself and others. I'm proof of that. Keep coming back! I did, and it works! So here's to you, AA, and a small word to express all that God has given me ... THANKS!
