AA members with computers
can participate in meetings online,
sharing with fellow alcoholics
across the country or around the world.
Fundamentally, though, the difference between
an electronic meeting and the one around the corner
is only one of format.
In any meeting, anywhere, AA's share experience,
strength, and hope with each other,
in order to stay sober and help other alcoholics.
Modem-to-modem or face-to-face,
AA's speak the language of the heart
in all its power and simplicity.
It works -- it really does.
A A = Always Awesome.
I'm Andy, an alcoholic.
I have been reading the Thought for The Day for exactly thirty months now, and have been married exactly thirty-one years. The Daily Thought has dramatically helped to educate my wife about AA principles. I simply forwarded her the ones I felt she would relate to. Now I forward all of them to her. At first, my wife didn't understand that I would have to do this the rest of my life. She said, "enough with the religious stuff!" She really got sick of my self-righteousness, being sober and all. So I pulled back, but continued to send her the Daily Thought, and slowly she actually began to "get it." We now go to church every Sunday. We have both taken Bible study classes over the past year. A marriage that was on the rocks thirty months ago is celebrating life together for thirty-one years with a Higher Power we call God. I actually like to refer to Him as the "G-Man." We have a grandson, our business is thriving, and our daughters' love just gushes through. They know their Dad is better and who now offers some actual good words of wisdom other than "oh, just get tough." They were raised with that unfortunately. It took me until age fifty to find this place. It all started here online with the chat meetings. Someone suggested I to go to a face-to-face meeting. I did, and I am still here. I am now a GSR, and don't get to online meetings anymore, but this is where it started. You have no idea how grateful I am. As I write this with tears in my eyes, I thank you and your hard work. I thank the "G-Man" for saving my life and my marriage. I simply can't imagine that it can get any better ... it doesn't have to, because with sobriety every day, I am on top of the world ... although there are still a few days when I feel I'm at the bottom of the world. When that happens, all I have to do is be patient, pray, call my sponsor and go to meetings. What a miracle ... I simply can't get over it!
Thank you! Andy
