Challenge

A complete change takes place in our approach to life.
Where we used to run from responsibility,
we find ourselves accepting it
with gratitude that we can successfully shoulder it.
Instead of wanting to escape some perplexing problem,
we experience the thrill of challenge
in the opportunity it affords for another application
of AA techniques,
and we find ourselves tackling it with surprising vigor.

Hi, my name is Jo-Anne, and I'm an alcoholic.

I often hide my true motives from myself, and yet the ability to honestly see myself in action then stop and change my direction to a more loving, generous stance, is what I would wish for. Often, I'm blessed with seeing others who uplift me with their behavior, and I would like to pass that on.

I have learned in sobriety that I am responsible for how I interpret situations and that I can choose dignity for myself and recognize that others are also entitled to it. It is not for me to judge or criticize others.
