Let Go

We thought we could find an easier, softer way.
But we could not.
With all the earnestness at our command,
we beg of you to be fearless and thorough
from the very start.
Some of us have tried to hold on to our old ideas
and the result was nil until we let go absolutely.

Hi, I'm Richard, an alcoholic.

Early in sobriety I heard the term "Let Go and Let God." It turned me off immediately. It made my concept of surrender very hard to grasp. If I had had a God, it would have been easier. Reading AA-approved literature is so very important. When I got around to reading the essays in Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions, my eyes opened to many things. I surrender every day after my tenth Step. If amends are necessary; I make them. Until you have a God of your understanding let it go to your home group in your share. We all have a past.
