Thankfulness

I try to hold fast to the truth
that a full and thankful heart
cannot entertain great conceits.
When brimming with gratitude,
one's heartbeat must surely result in outgoing love,
the finest emotion that we can ever know.

Hi, I'm Jimmy, an alcoholic without a drink since 03-08-01.

Tonight, I give both praise and thanks for relinquishing my Ph.D. in World Control, and also my Doctorate in Outcomes. When I reached AA, I was in bad shape. But today, I'm thankful for having a budget instead of a bar tab. I'm thankful that I have made amends to the city where I live, and the state and federal government. I'm thankful that mankind no longer has to brace and be afraid every time I get into a car and that no one is bleeding tonight because of me ... including myself. I'm thankful that my wife no longer cries, and that my sons are reconciled with their father. But most of all, I am most thankful for the God of my understanding and the people here He chose to save me through and for these rooms, which I am able to use as my personal workshop. My job. My life. My ...... thanks ... can't talk now ... crying.
