AA Thought for the Day

Carry the Message

Taking advantage of technological advances,
AA members with computers
can participate in meetings online,
sharing with fellow alcoholics across the country
or around the world.
Fundamentally, though, the difference
between an electronic meeting
and the home group around the corner
is only one of format.
In any meeting, anywhere, AA's share experience,
strength, and hope with each other,
in order to stay sober and help other alcoholics.
Modem-to-modem or face-to-face,
AA's speak the language of the heart
in all its power and simplicity.

Thought to Ponder....

We in AA don't carry the alcoholic;
we carry the message.

My name is Charles and I am an alcoholic.

I have been sober through the grace of God and AA for over ten consecutive years ... one day at a time. I am currently traveling through Europe for the first time, which simply would not have been possible without my continued sobriety. I have been to several meetings, contacted and emailed my sponsor, but it has been a saving grace that I have been able to drop into a local Internet cafe and check my AA Thought for the Day. It has kept the program and the literature fresh in my mind. After going some days without a meeting, it is a great relief to be reminded that the Twelfth Step comes in various forms, and the Internet is just one of the many ways we help each other stay sober. Love and service are what drive AA, and that commitment to helping others stay and achieve sobriety is appreciated as I trudge the Road of Happy Destiny through Europe.
